The late-night drive, corner by corner.
Midnight Tour is made for car enthusiasts who love to go out for a drive at night. The app finds the great roads near you, winding roads, mountain passes and small roads with character, and in Drive mode it tells you what the road does next, corner by corner.
Why Midnight Tour
Made for car enthusiasts
An app for people who take the car out for the joy of driving.
The late drive
No destination, just the road. Open the map, pick a great road near you, and go. That is the spirit of Midnight Tour.
A good road, and the night ahead.
Corner by corner
In Drive mode, pace notes tell you what the road does: every bend graded 1 to 6 or hairpin, whether it tightens or opens, the straights and how long they are. Like a co-driver, on screen. A way to read demanding roads and drive them more smoothly.
What the road does, never a speed.
The scenic way
Going somewhere? Type a town or village, choose how far you will go out of your way, and the app finds up to four good roads on the way there. Google Maps or Waze takes you from one to the next.
The same trip, made better.
The app
What the app does
Roads near you
The map shows the good roads around you. They are found automatically from OpenStreetMap and judged by the same rules: length, bends, open to all cars, no endless village crossings. What you have left to drive
Roads you have not driven yet are dotted on the map.Honest road pages
Every road says what was measured, what comes from the map and what is still unknown.Directions to the road
Google Maps or Waze takes you to the start of the road, from the nearer end when it can be driven both ways.Drive mode
The road's line, your position, the distance left and pace notes corner by corner, with no turn-by-turn navigation.Road passport
A stamp for every road you drive end to end, kept on your phone.Photo spots
Places near the roads where you can stop to photograph your car, with the best light of the day. Always check the signs on site.Add your road
Pick a start and an end on the map: the road is checked against our rules, then approved.“Driven 12 times”
See which roads drivers actually drive: every drive finished in Drive mode counts.
Road pages
What we know, and how
Every fact about a road says where it comes from. When we do not know, the page says so.
- Measured
- Worked out from the road's line: its length and its bends.
- From the map
- Taken from OpenStreetMap, the free map made by volunteers: the name, the road number, the surface.
- Unknown
- What nobody has checked yet, such as the direction of traffic or access, is shown as unknown. Unknown never means open or safe.
A private or closed road? Report it from its page: it leaves the map until the team has checked it.
On the road
Drive mode
Google Maps or Waze takes you to the start of the road. Then Drive mode shows you the road itself.
- The road's line, your position and the distance left.
- Pace notes corner by corner: every bend graded 1 to 6 or hairpin, whether it tightens or opens, the straights and their length (experimental).
- No turn-by-turn voice guidance, no timer, no speed on screen.
- Your position stays on your phone: it is never sent or stored.
- Set everything up while parked. Never use your phone while driving.
Road passport
One stamp per road
Drive a road end to end in Drive mode and it gets its stamp in your passport.
- No times, no speeds: just the roads you drove, and on which day.
- The passport stays on your phone. Delete one stamp or the whole passport whenever you like.
Where
Four countries to start with
- France
- Germany
- Belgium
- Luxembourg
Made in Luxembourg for the roads of France and its neighbours.
Public roads, not race tracks
No live timers, rankings or speed challenges. Drive legally, respect speed limits and residents, especially at night, and never use your phone while driving.
